Annie la Rue Photography bio picture

hi, i'm annie...

Welcome to my blog.... I am a contemporary lifestyle photographer who splits my time between East Coast, Australia and Singapore.

You can find my website portfolio here ... but this is the place to come if you'd like to see what I've recently been doing, listen to my random ramblings and sometimes see what's going on in my life.

After spending the past four years based in Singapore I have now returned to Canberra, ACT.  I still travel to Singapore every 12 weeks or so as well as servicing Sydney & Rural NSW.  If that doesn't cover you - just ask!  I have been tempted by Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and even Brunei before!

If I had to describe my style I would say; honest and true.  I love to capture the true essence of a moment.  I thrive on capturing honest connections, with the camera but especially with each other, the true honesty that is a family, a friendship,  and love, sometimes warts and all!

...thanks for stopping by... come often and please feel free to leave a comment!

facebook | news

it’s something I’ve been procrastinating about for a while now… people have asked..are you on Facebook?? I wasn’t… I must admit I thought it was kinda weird having a business on a social networking site and the thought of having a fan page gave me the heebee jebbees, isn’t it just a little self indulgent?… but I did look.    The only way I could actually investigate was to set up a page; so back in January I did… nothing lost, no one needed to know.  I posted once to see what it looked like and left it at that.

I had another client ask me yesterday; “are you on on Facebook?” me: Ah yes… well I thought about doing it, I really should…   so I found myself back there and low and behold I had fans (shock me!)  AND comments (thank you!) that I didn’t even know about (apologies for not answering!).   So I guess it’s about time…if you are on FB and are interested in getting updates you can find me here!

mathilda’s markets | life

mathildas markets

There are so many amazingly talented people around.  I am always blown away at how clever people can be and I was lucky enough to see a whole bunch of them yesterday at Mathilda’s Markets in Canberra.  As well as being the Mathilda’s Official photographer, I also had a stall to launch my new competition (see below!).

I wish I could show everything but a few of my faves were the gorgeous mobiles from Sarah at Gift’s Created,  Anne’s cutouts at Pip & Co. (and gorgeous website), Kirsty’s gorgeous baby linen at Kaile and the gorgeous dolls from Poppy Bean and Bloss.  Eeww lucky I didn’t take my credit card!

Mathilda’s markets are held in each capital city of Australia (sorry Singapore!).

launching… Boudoir by annie la Rue | news

It has been months in the making, heaps of work behind the scenes and I’m so excited it’s finally here…!

any regular reader will probably have picked up by now, I am so passionate about what I do.  I just love it, the intimacy of being invited into a family and watching them interact and just be…  the spirit of childhood is just magical, it’s just asking to be captured…and we do.

and then children grow into big kids, we capture birthdays and graduations, the milestones get further and further apart, we were children and are now grown ups and apart from maybe wedding photos and the occasional Christmas, photos of ourselves just don’t seem to happen any more, life gets in the way.

And that is why I am so passionate about my new addition to the family… Boudoir by annie la Rue.

What does Boudoir photography mean you may ask?  Boudoir is simply a celebration of you.  Your moment in the sun!  Whether you are a mother, girlfriend, wife, single independent amazing woman; I truly believe that every woman, any age and every size has a unique an intimate beauty to be celebrated.

Boudoir is not for everyday, it’s your special splurge.  You might treat yourself to a session as a gift for your special someone, for your groom on your wedding day, to celebrate a milestone in your life, or just as a lasting memory to remind yourself that you rocked it once too! why not?!

so I hope you enjoy and maybe even decide to take a risk and celebrate you, and the glorious beautiful being you are…today, just as you are.

launching...

side note. Boudoir is an addition to the annie la rue photography family that will be going on in the background.  You will not see posts of shoots here on the blog but if you’re interested be sure to check in every now and then with the website to find out the latest news and promotions.  You can find a link to the website in my menu.  And a HUGE thanks goes to my wonderful clients who have given their full permission to use their images on my website so you can see exactly what Boudoir is all about, THANK YOU! xx

i am…annie la rue | life

I love the photo of me on my website and in my header on my blog.  It is my favourite photo of me, which you could say is a little sad as it is taken from behind… but there are many things I love about that photo but what I love most, is that for me it captures two of my true passions, travel and photography.

I do tend to go on a bit about photography “capturing moments”… the photo I talk about was taken on the Ganges, in India, at sunrise…on a whim, my dear friend Kate and I jumped on a plane and headed off to India and then Nepal, two fiercely independent single career girls taking on the third world… it feels like a lifetime ago, life seemed so less complicated… that moment captured, which I will always treasure.

That being said, I’ve finally decided that annie la rue Photography also needs a face.  And I’ve finally forced myself and found one.  So this is me for anyone that was wondering.  I know I won’t be able to replace my favourite photo, but I will find a home for my face somewhere on my website or blog

for now it will live here….
