Annie la Rue Photography bio picture

hi, i'm annie...

Welcome to my blog.... I am a contemporary lifestyle photographer who splits my time between East Coast, Australia and Singapore.

You can find my website portfolio here ... but this is the place to come if you'd like to see what I've recently been doing, listen to my random ramblings and sometimes see what's going on in my life.

After spending the past four years based in Singapore I have now returned to Canberra, ACT.  I still travel to Singapore every 12 weeks or so as well as servicing Sydney & Rural NSW.  If that doesn't cover you - just ask!  I have been tempted by Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and even Brunei before!

If I had to describe my style I would say; honest and true.  I love to capture the true essence of a moment.  I thrive on capturing honest connections, with the camera but especially with each other, the true honesty that is a family, a friendship,  and love, sometimes warts and all!

...thanks for stopping by... come often and please feel free to leave a comment!

Part II of Emma & Nic’s wedding… the very very fun part!  Start with an awesome bride & groom, add the best wedding guests ever, a box of rockin props and what do you get…awesomeness!!

As I mentioned before nearly all the wedding guests at Nic and Emma’s wedding traveled a long way to share their day with them and I say, what an awesome way to capture your wedding guests…and these guys truly brought it!  Emma gave the best new talent awarded to the rubber chicken….totally very well deserved.

A very small selection of my favorites from the night…

you can see the rest of the craziness here.

It was a perfect day in tropical Singapore, it was warm without being overwhelmingly hot and a rare cool breeze occasionally blew through and blessed the day.  It was always set to be a perfect day, Emma & Nic were getting married.

I had only met Emma once before she asked me to document the most important day in her life but I felt already like I had known her forever.  She is one of those people that can’t help but ooze gorgeousness, that kind of beautiful genuine gorgeousness right from her soul through to her skin and she has truly met the yang to her ying, Nic.  This was reflected by the distances that 90% of the wedding party traveled to witness this perfect matching, with people travelling from all ends of Australia, and even London.

This wedding had been many months in the planning and I was so happy to see it unfold just like the day, so perfectly.

Thank you Emma & Nic for asking me to document such an amazing milestone in your lives and thank you especially for being you; full of love, kindness, joy, warmth and a particular special kind of gorgeousness. Much love and thanks xxA

Emma’s divine gown was from Angeline Baccini of Baccini & Hill, and it truly was…dee-vine!

Emm choose to get ready at The Club, a new boutique hotel that has opened in Chinatown on Ann Siang Hill, it could not have been more perfect. I just love these photos of the preparation, Emm’s girls where all they could have been…and more.IMG_3033IMG_3078-76IMG_3235-60IMG_3266IMG_3304-84IMG_3329

Emm & Nic chose to meet before the ceremony and I think it is so worth it, to share moments like these… _MG_4387_3368IMG_3370-4402

Angela from by the branch did a stunning job with the flowers including Emm’s bouquet.

Very funny part two to follow…. AND a huge shout out to my man Craig (check him out here) for being my run around guy on the ground when I missed my flight and being there to second shoot with me, it was a blast and can’t wait to do it again some time!

emma + nic | sneak peek

I know many of you have been wondering what has happened to me (yes, you mum!), so I thought I had better check in with a sneak peek of the divine tropical wedding I have just been to Singapore to photograph.  I can’t wait to post the rest and catch up on all of my other blog posts… I am working double time to clear the back log and thank you again to my wonderfully patient clients (you know who you are…the ones wondering where your photos are! ).

angela + tim | married

I have been terribly behind in my blogging..

you may remember tim & ange from here… I will admit, we had stunning light for their engagement shoot, I was in love, they were in love, the light was full of love!  We were stoked that two weeks later we would be doing it all again…the week was divine but the forcast was not great…how could it be possible, but it was…it poured…cats and dogs pour with no end in sight.  The outdoor ceremony had to be rushed indoors, the details and decorations at Yarrh winery, that Ange and Tim had been working on for weeks, were missed; but weddings aren’t about the weather…they are all about the love, and Tim and Angela brought it as did everyone in the cellar!

…so we snuck back out in the following weeks and the sun found us… and it filled us all with love again…

when I catch up I will also give you a peak of their ceremony but I couldn’t resist posting these…

a special thanks to Chellie of CH Floral Design for the divine bouquet.

last weekend I… | married

no it’s not me who is married…!  but I was in Sydney helping the lovely Angie Peady shoot the divine wedding of Danielle + Mark.

I was so honoured to be a part of their day. It was such a beautiful wedding to share with two beautiful families… I will even admit to tearing up during the wedding speeches.

This is small selection of how their day looked through my lens…

I could not resist posting this photo of the one of the attendants I mean really!?  what a cutie patootie!  His eyes were actually the colour of gold…

Rain makes for beautiful wet shiny reflections like this…

my favourite shot of the day… between trying to hold a camera, an additional spotlight, camera bag and umbrella, it was my Tim Gunn moment. I’m glad I persisted.

bring it on…! | weddings

I know I said it already but… I am excited!

There are many people who inspire me, personally and professionally.  This week I was lucky enough to rub shoulders with one.  Jasmine Star is a rockstar in the photography world, she was voted one of the USA’s top 10 wedding photographers of 2009, yes she is that good!  Jasmine made her way for the first time to little ole Aus and I was lucky enough to be one of a handful that got to attend her workshop this week in Sydney… she and her partner in crime (her husband JD) were all you could expect and more, talented, gorgeous and beautiful souls.

So here it is…my contribution from the day… I’ve been often asked to photograph a wedding and I have in the past been hesitant but yes! I have and new found love – shooting weddings and to you I say…bring it on!

Karim & Alana flew all the way from Adelaide for this shoot and they were awesome.  Alana was so open to any craziness that was asked of her and just glowed in happiness.  Karim was the strong silent type but could never hide that look of pride, they just adored each other!

And in case you are wondering;

The stunning dress was by Catherine Colubriale, Flowers by Daisy Chain Florist, Hair and Make Up by Lyndal Quinn-Tuccarone and we shot in and around The Rocks, Sydney.

surprise… | sneak peek

well what do you know…..it’s a wedding!  I am so SUPER excited about this post, the full story is to follow….but seriously isn’t she a stunning bride?!
